| What kinds of listings can be placed on TheBigDay? |
TheBigDay currently offers listing space in two areas:
Wedding vendor listings and Registry experience listings.
Wedding vendor listings are organized by location (e.g. "Portland, Oregon") and category (e.g. "Florists"), and are accessed via the Weddings tab on any page on the website, or directly from search engine results (e.g. Google search for "wedding cakes Portland Oregon"). Registry experience listings power our RegistryWizard, which is presented to brides and grooms as they build out their registry as choices of experiences at their destination to be purchased as wedding gifts by their guests. Registry experience listings are grouped by honeymoon destination. |

| How much does a listing on TheBigDay cost? |
Wedding vendor listings cost $25.00 per listing, per calendar month for each destination where you want to be listed.

| Who will see my listing? |
Wedding vendor listings:
Brides and grooms who visit TheBigDay's site can browse wedding vendors by location and category. Some couples
visit TheBigDay because of our honeymoon registry, while
others come across our listings after searching for wedding-related terms in Google, Yahoo, or MSN.
Registry experience listings: Brides and grooms create their honeymoon registries at TheBigDay, and after specifying their destination, our Registry Wizard presents them with a categorized list of experiences that they can add to their registry. When an experience is on a wedding couple's registry, it's also shown to all of the wedding guests who come to visit their registry, offering additional marketing exposure to you--not just for honeymooners, but general vacationers as well. Additionally, your listing will appear in our categorized "what to see and do in..." section of our travel guide for your destination. Pages on TheBigDay's site tend to rank very highly in Google and the other search engines for many related terms, so we do see substantial traffic from non-honeymooners as well...people searching for terms like "jet boat rides in New Zealand". While traffic to TheBigDay's website is seasonal, it ranges from about 70,000 unique visitors monthly to 150,000 or more. |

| Is it safe to display my email address in my listing? |
Certainly there are companies out there who are "scraping" email addresses from web pages all over the internet and selling
the email addresses that they find to spammers--this is a problem everyone should be concerned about, and you should take
steps to protect your email address from the spammers.
Some people solve this problem by creating a form that the customer must fill out to send an email to the company. While this is very effective at blocking the spammers, it can "turn off" customers who may not want to fill out a form for what to them is a simple question they want to ask. While it's convenient for the recipient, being forced to fill out an online form has a negative psychological effect for many customers, and you may "feel" to them like you're too corporate and/or impersonal. TheBigDay has developed a three-tier defense system that allows us to display email addresses on our site, make those email addresses clickable (launching the client's email program when clicked), while making it virtually impossible for the spammers' bots to see and scrape the email address. We use this system for all of our business and employee email addresses across our website, and for email addresses we find in the contact information for your listing as well. And while we won't talk on this page about how we do it (that would be potentially aiding the enemy!), you can always contact us at vendorlistings@TheBigDay.com to set up a time where we can explain what we're doing and answer any of your questions over the phone. While we have great confidence in our anti-spam system, you may still decide that you don't want your email address displayed in your listing--perhaps for your business you really want to drive the potential customer to call you on the phone, for instance. That's why you always have the option in your listing on TheBigDay.com to edit the contact info section for your listing and remove your email address and direct the customers to contact you in any way you choose. |

| How do I get listed at the top of my category? |
Wedding vendor listings:
We order listings on our site first by backlinks, then by number of reviews, and then by vendor name.
Backlinks: vendors who have a link back to TheBigDay on their own website get listed first; vendors without a backlink come after. See the next FAQ question (below) for more information on backlinks. Reviews: vendors with more reviews by customers and other vendors get listed ahead of those with fewer or no reviews. Advertisers who link to TheBigDay will always rank higher than advertisers who do not have a backlink. Registry experience listings: Listings are ordered alphabetically by title within a category. |

| What's a backlink, and why does TheBigDay care? |
A "backlink" is a link on YOUR website to www.thebigday.com. Links from other
websites is a key factor for ranking well in the search engines such as Google--very important for an online company
like TheBigDay. Thus, we reward our listing partners who do link back to us by showing their listings first on any given
wedding category page.
If you'd like to get a little more visibility and see your listing higher on the page, here's what to do:

| Why should I review other people's listings? |
Wedding vendors: TheBigDay vendor reviews are very important to brides and grooms.
While the reviews from other brides and grooms who have used the service are helpful, recommendations from industry insiders can be
even more valuable. Let's face it - the average couple will write only one review per category based on only one experience!
From a business standpoint, you probably already refer your customers to other (non-competing) wedding vendors whom you know and trust...and they probably refer business back to you as well. TheBigDay's listings and reviews are an online extension of that referral system. Having positive reviews from other wedding professionals certainly encourages brides and grooms to choose you for their wedding. As well, listings with more reviews are positioned higher on the page, giving more exposure to those with more reviews. In addition, your review itself carries a link to your website, offering an opportunity for even more potential customer traffic to your site. Of course, you'll want to encourage those businesses that you write reviews for to post a review of your services in return...just like you'd give each other a stack of business cards to put on your counters in your store or office. |

| How do I review another listing? |
Simply find the listing on this page by selecting the destination and category.
Then, at the bottom of the page for that listing, you'll find a link for wedding vendors to log in and add a review.
Click that link, log in with same email address and password you use to edit your own listings, and you'll be taken to a page where you can write your review. You'll also have the opportunity to upload a photo or logo as well as show a link to your website next to your review comments. |

| When will I get charged for my listing? |
We charge your account the first time when we approve your listing. If it's after the first of the month, then we only
charge you for half the month. If it's after the 15th of the month, you get the rest of that month for free.
After that, we charge your account on the first of each month (a few days before the end of
the month, we'll send you a reminder email if your account doesn't have sufficient funds to cover all of your listings for the upcoming
month).
If your account runs out of funds, you'll be notified by email. Then, once you add funds to your account, we'll charge you for each listing that's not yet funded for the current month. If you edit a listing after you've been charged for that listing and that month, we do NOT charge you again when we approve the revised listing. Under no circumstances will you be charged twice for the same listing and the same month. |
|
| Back to top | ||
| How do I inactivate a listing so I don't get charged? |
If you've run a seasonal business, or have a business that's not yet open,
you can temporarily inactivate your advertisement by clicking on Temporarily inactivate next to the name
of your listing on the page you see when you log in (or, once logged in, when you click the Listings tab).
Listings inactivated before the 1st of each month will not be charged the monthly advertising fee. Note that once a listing has been paid for, inactivating the listing WILL NOT remove the charge from your account. There are no refunds for listings that are inactivated after they have been billed. |
|

| Why do you have to approve my listing? |
Before showing your listing to our customers, we review it for things like spelling,
grammar, picture/logo quality, etc. If we find things that should be fixed, we'll email
you with the suggested changes. We DO NOT edit your listing directly--you're in complete
control of that content.
As well, we do keep an eye out for inappropriate or offensive content and won't permit that to be shown on our site of course. |
|

| What format should my photo or logo be in? |
Images should be in .JPG format, and no more than 40K in size.
We need it to be exactly 300 pixels wide, but if it's a different width,
we're resize it to 300 pixels wide for you automatically. However, you can often improve
the quality of the image in your listing by resizing it yourself to 300 pixels wide, as our
automated resizer sometimes doesn't do as good a job as programs such as Paintshop Pro or Photoshop.
If you don't already have a program for manipulating image files, we recommend Paintshop Pro. You can get a free trial at www.jasc.com. They have an excellent wizard for compressing image files while retaining image quality and sharpness. (Click on File...Save As...then choose Options....Run Optimizer...then Use Wizard.) |

| What if I don't have a photo or logo? |
If you don't have a logo or a photo for your business, we recommend using a photo of
yourself. The wedding business is a very personal business--and a picture of you with
a friendly smile can help make a connection with the bride. Several of our destination wedding planning
partners in Hawaii have told us that putting their own pictures on their websites has had a very
positive effect and drawn many comments from new customers.
If you're having trouble with your photo or logo, feel free to email it to us and we'll help you out. |

you wish to have your address and a Google Maps link show in your listings.
Click the Profile tab to update this information. |
